PAD PRO PROJECT MAY-JULY 2022
Hygiene products are essential to women everywhere. Our plan for this year is to supply hygiene and feminine products to the 289 underprivileged girls in secondary schools in rural areas of Tanzania. Unfortunately, menstruation becomes a source of stress, shame, confusion, or fear for young girls. This is due to a lack of feminine products, as they are expensive, and unaffordable for most. Per our research and conversations with these girls, we found out that most of them miss school during the days that they have their period, because they fear they will embarrass themselves. This has drastically affected their studies and meant that some have finished school with lower grades, and they were therefore not able to continue with higher education. Fanikia is trying to improve the lives of young women through better menstrual health and hygiene.
We can improve lives and education by making day to day essentials available to all. Will you help?

SHOE DRIVE
Fanikia is planning to start a BARE4BRIGHT campaign. Fanikia has been blessed, and we were able to support more students this year. Most Fanikia recipients, as well as many other students, came to school in January with no shoes. We are hoping to provide shoes to more than 100 students in the rural schools in Tanzania.
MATTRESS DRIVE
Additional Information
We are currently working on a project to help underprivileged girls who are in boarding schools (“hostels”) and in need of mattresses. I was privileged to visit these young girls in their school hostel in Tanzania, Pwani Region, Kibiti District at Mahege Secondary School. Unfortunately, the living conditions I saw were very poor. Many of the girls have no mattresses to sleep on and they sleep on pieces of foam or cardboard. These girls get free tuition fees but they need to pay for the boarding cost (that includes food and room) and uniforms, books and mattresses.
The total number of girls who are in need is 49 and each mattress costs $30.00. We are kindly asking for your support.
A good night’s rest can change a young girl’s life.
“After a peaceful night she is ready to own the world”
This year we accomplished our Mattress Drive project.
Through your donations, we were able to provide 52 mattresses to underprivileged young girls at the Mahege Secondary Hostel. It was a total success, as we exceeded our goal of 49 mattresses.
Many of the girls had been sleeping on cardboard or foam pieces, and thanks to your generosity, they now get a good night’s sleep.
There are many girls that don't have this luxury, therefor we still need your help!
